Peloponnesus, " the island of Pelops," prius Apia, a peninsula of Europe, the portion of Greece s. of the Isthmus Co-rinthiacus, bounded N. by Corinthiacus sin., s. by Libycum mare, w. by Ionium mare, E. by the yEgean. Named after Pelops, who migrated hither from Phrygia. In area 7800 m.; in circumference, the sinuosities of the coast included, 700 m. In shape resembling a mulberry-leaf, whence its modern appellation. Morea.

Pelusium (Sin, Pheromi), "marshy," a city of Lower Egypt, on Pelusiacum ostium, R., 2 m. from its mouth, S.e. of Da-miathis. The key of Egypt in that direc­tion.
